Most awaited event

The entire cycling world is now waiting eagerly for the Tour de France which is going to start by the last week of June. Not just spectators, any cycling professional is waiting eagerly for the commencement of the tour. The main reason for the excitement and curiosity surrounding the French grand competition is because Tour de France 2013 will mark the 100th edition of the tour. This year there will be a lot more action and lot more tough challenges for the riders to overcome. The tour will comprise of 21 stages and the journey will begin at Corsica, a place which was never covered by the competition in the past 99 years.

The 21 stages will cover a distance of approximately 3360 km with some new twists in the time trail stages. This year the riders will have to perform the grueling task of climbing the Alpe d’Huez two times and the Alpine mountains will feature three stages. Porto Vecchio will cover the first three stages while the final stage will be covered right in Paris. For the very first time the tour will go through the two metropolitan departments of Haute Corse and Corse du Sud making the 100 journey more memorable.

Racing professionals from all over the world are training hard and fast to give their best shot at the tour. Some will perform to make their presence felt, some will perform to prove a point and some will perform with immense passion for the last time. Although defending champion Sir Bradley Wiggins is nursing an infection in his chest which he developed at Giro, but he has vowed to become totally fit before the tour. Another champion racer Ryder Hesjedal also suffered from illness at Giro and is trying to regain fitness before Tour de France. David Millar is hoping to perform well at the tour after all the doping scandal.
