Final Lists of Great Britain for Olympics Cycling

The British Olympic Association has confirmed their selections for Great Britain’s Olympic cycling team for London 2012, with 18 athletes who have been officially listed to represent Team GB.

The athletes who have been selected are Beijing Olympic triple gold medalist Sir Chris Hoy, road race World Champion Mark Cavendish and Olympic road race champion Nicole Cooke.

The mountain bike team has been fixed with Liam Killeen and Annie Last while on the other hand, Liam Phillips and Shanaze Reade will be seen Great Britain in BMX.

On July 28-29 in due course Road race teams will be cut short to the final five men and four women that would represent the Team of GB, including Geraint Thomas and Thor Hushovd. Selections for individual track events will also be determined from the named athletes.

As a response Sir Chris Hoy has said that he is honored to become the representative of the country yet again and is looking forward to bringing pride to his nation at the Olympic Games and is elated to be in the team for London 2012 Olympics. This is going to be his fourth Olympics but it is more special because he is going to perform in his home country. He has said, “It’s going to be an amazing experience and a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of us.”

Sir Chris Hoy has pointed out that the standard in the British cycling team is so high that the selection process is not going to be that easy. Training is going to cost hours but it will be fun as guaranteed by Chris as he is been a part of it for so long. This is done only to get the best out of the athletes on the day of the event.
