Contador certainly not unbeatable, says Froome

It is a well known fact that Spanish riding star Alberto Contador has set his eyes on the Tour de France of 2013, but Chris Froome has gone on record saying that he is not afraid of Contador, The 27 year old Team Sky member has, however conceded that winning the Tour de France this year will be tough and a very big challenge.

Froome, who has beaten Contador on an earlier occasion, will be leading Team Sky this time around and is being counted as one of the favorites to win the 100th chapter of the most renowned race of the world.

Froome, who is undoubtedly one of the strongest fields that the sport has witnessed in recent times, will be there at with Cadel Evans, Bradley Wiggins and Andy Schleck and the start line.  Joaquim Rodriguez and Tejay van Garderen will also be there at the starting line.

However, Froome’s toughest competitor will definitely be the two time winner Contador following his reassertion of his prowess at the Grand Tour with a Vuelta a Espana win in 2012’s September.

Though, during most parts of the Vuelta a Espana Froome found himself trailing behind Contador, he has said it has done nothing to shake his firm belief has take home the winner’s yellow jersey at the Tour de France.

Talking to the media, the rider of Kenyan origin said, “I don’t believe that Contador is unbeatable. If you rewind and go back to last year’s Vuelta a Espana, you will see that Contador was there in the second place or the third place coming into the final week.

Froome added, “Contador was almost beaten then but Rodriguez was defeated at the Vuelta because of some bad tactics. So, Contador is certainly not unbeatable”.

“I believe that winning the Tour de France is possible for me. It will be a stiff challenge and I feel that it will be tougher than the last year”, Froome said.
